It was just a matter of time but here it comes.
Eating meat could become illegal in the future due to the damage caused to the environment, says a leading barrister calling for a new "ecocide" law.

Michael Mansfield QC says new legislation is needed to criminalise the "wilful destruction of nature", which he described as a "crime against humanity".

In a speech to be delivered at Labour's party conference in Brighton on Monday, Mr Mansfield will say: "I think when we look at the damage eating meat is doing to the planet it is not preposterous to think that one day it will become illegal.

It was just a matter of time before the Vegan mafia decided to have a go at meat eaters.

This country in 20/30 years time will be the dullest place on earth to live. You won’t be able to say anything in case it offends someone, you won’t be able to travel anywhere in case it pollutes everywhere and now you will only be able to eat dust and leaves 😂😂😂

Mansfield is truly a piece of shit, and l disagree with most things he stands for, but unfortunately in this case he is correct

I suspect the wrong sort of people (in the world) are making profit from meat production.

Bring it fully under the control of big pharma and then the right sort of people will be making all that profit, which, let's face it. they feel is theirs by right in any case.

He’s a bit old this Mansfield.

Tough old meat.

We’re gonna have to stew him.

Already there are plant burgers that taste like their meat counterparts. It's just evolution. I cant see a law like that happening in my lifetime.

It’s being grown in labs from cells so moving forward if they can nail the production and costs it will all just be produced in there.

I saw the title and assumed it would be you admitting you were wrong for all the Pellegrino Out threads.

Gave you too much credit

I have a funny feeling that all this "do gooder" stuff will actually turn out to be more dangerous to life than the things it's trying to replace. It's like McDonald's paper straws not being recyclable but the plastic ones are!! Designer foods created in a lab will probably create something that will cause far more illness and death than cows in a field!!

So we stop eating meat. Does that mean fewer cows? We going to destroy the surplus? If we don't destroy them, the methane emissions won't reduce. If we do destroy them, what happens to the MILK production?

Like most things connected with the Labour party, this is a total losd of old bollocks.

I have a friend who is a vegetarian and he once told me that if we are all compelled to become vegetarians or vegans then animals such as cows, pigs, sheep, etc, will only be seen in zoos, as there will be no further need to farm them.

He is not militant by any means and respects those who choose to eat meat.

Sydney,
It starts off that way, then it starts to seep into society, then it becomes the accepted way of thinking for many, then laws pass to support it.

Eating meat once a week twice at worst is all that is needed and not too much of it either ban processed rubbish not meat once that is done less cows will be needed for supply.
